Manager of Business and Operations

The Manager of Business and Operations is responsible for all issues at the Iowa Virtual School Program that relate to finance, day-to-day operations, audits, and reporting. The Manager of Business and Operations reports directly to the Program Director.

The Manager of Business and Operations will have responsibilities in the following areas:

Finance
  • Perform all bookkeeping for IAVSP
  • Set up accounting software
  • Load the state chart of accounts
  • Work with the Program Director to oversee all business operations including billing, annual budget development, cash flow reports, and any other business or personnel issues
  • Inform K12's Director of Finance or designee on all financial matters
  • Serve as liaison between district personnel and K12 on financial issues
  • Work with the Department of Education to report per pupil revenue
  • Create and implement IAVSP financial policies
  • Develop grant opportunities and write grants
  • Create timely and accurate submissions for state and federal funding programs (e.g., Title I)
  • Administer federal entitlement programs (e.g., Title I, IDEA)
  • Develop fundraising (if necessary)
Operations
  • Log and report issues pertaining to technology, materials delivery, enrollment, and customer service back to K12 for process improvement
  • Collaborate with resident districts to meet open enrollment program requirements
  • Assist Program Director in organization and oversight of parent orientations
  • Assist in state testing logistics for IAVSP
  • Procure equipment, supplies, and services
  • Maintain office inventory
Reporting
  • Communicate with state department of education on reporting issues
  • Manage all local, state, federal, and K12 reporting requirements
  • Assist with all student information reporting
  • Prepare IAVSP to meet all audit requirements
Technology
  • Learn to use all technology, databases, and software at IAVSP
  • Assist in assessing technical training needs of teachers and admins
  • Communicate with K12 regarding update and maintenance of content on IAVSP's website
  • Serve as liaison between teachers, parents, and K12 technical support when needed to assist teachers and families with technical issues
  • Oversee moderation of IAVSP discussion boards
Human Resources
  • Work closely with K12 corporate human resources
  • Act as the IAVSP point-of-contact for all K12 employee HR questions
  • Manage local K12 staff HR issues in coordination with K12 corporate HR
  • Organize and oversee staff orientations
Marketing/PR
  • Assist Program Director and K12 regional marketing manager in organization of student recruitment events across the state
  • Lead student recruitment events, when necessary
  • Help develop public relations, communications, and marketing plans
In addition to the above responsibilities, the Manager of Business & Operations may be asked to assist with national K12 efforts including development of policies and procedures, training, and curriculum enhancements.

Compensation includes competitive salary commensurate with background and experience, and other similar programs, and a benefits package.
