Teachers

Our teachers are part of a pioneering effort in public education and must share IAVSP's pioneering mission and approach. IAVSP teachers are employees of the Pocahontas Area Community School District.

Teaching in this program requires a firm understanding of how best practices from a regular classroom can be applied to our innovative model. Though we are primarily focused on academics, all of our teachers must have experience using technology. Teachers work from their homes.

  • Organize regional parent and student events
  • Participate in monthly, face-to-face staff development*
  • Attend four-day national conference*

  • Work more directly with students
  • Ensure strong state test performance in core subject areas

All teachers may also be asked to assist with national K12 efforts including development of policies and procedures, training, and curriculum enhancements.
